ATI Technologies to manage technical documentation with a sophisticated solution
based on the IXIASOFT DITA CMS Framework
IXIASOFT, the XML database and search engine market leader, announced today that ATI Technologies, an innovator and market leader in the graphics industry, has chosen IXIASOFT’s DITA CMS Framework to manage their multilingual technical documentation. ATI Technologies selected IXIASOFT on the basis of its technical excellence, standards compliancy and for being able to meet ATI’s exacting technical requirements.
“We selected IXIASOFT, not only because of their in-house DITA expertise, but we were really impressed with their ability to demonstrate advanced CMS features – they even passed our multilingual crash test!”.” said Keith Schengili-Roberts, Manager of Documentation and Localization at ATI Technologies. “We took over a year to determine our requirements and wanted a solution that was flexible enough to adapt to our existing processes – this is exactly what set the IXIASOFT offering apart from other solutions.”
The IXIASOFT DITA CMS Framework is a documentation solution that combines the mechanics of an extensible environment, a powerful content management system and the elegant modularity of DITA. Features include: DITA map builder, status management, workflow support, localization management, image manipulation and advanced searching.
“We are very excited about working with ATI Technologies on their DITA CMS project. Our extensible product offering enables us to deliver customized solutions that are specific to each organization’s needs.” said Eric Bergeron, President and Co-Founder of IXIASOFT. “Because of new business drivers, documentation is being put at the forefront of ATI’s product development cycle. The goals are to allow ATI to produce their technical documentation much more effectively while reducing their high translation costs - since they now have over 20 languages to support.”
The IXIASOFT DITA CMS Framework is based on TEXTML Server, IXIASOFT’s flagship XML content management product, and allows organizations to fully leverage the DITA standard, an XML-based architecture for authoring, producing and publishing technical information. After a thorough evaluation process and an extensive technological assessment, ATI Technologies selected IXIASOFT out of a pool of over 40 identified CMS vendors. Designed with flexibility in mind, the IXIASOFT DITA CMS Framework provides a WYSIWIG map manipulation and full support of the documentation life cycle.
The main reason ATI Technologies decided to introduce a new content management system within their technical documentation department is because their business needs are rapidly shifting in a direction where the documentation itself is becoming increasingly critical to the success of new business endeavors. Project goals for ATI's CMS are to lower localization complexity and costs, and to increase productivity through better division of labor and automation. Once deployed, the CMS solution will help ATI achieve true single-source multi-channel publishing and substantial content re-use. ATI corporate policy required that the CMS goals be achieved by a means demonstrating immediate fiscal benefit and a clear and substantial return on investment.
