Abstract: The opportunities for sharing and reusing content between documentation and training abound. However, circumstances may make it hard, if not impossible, to collaborate in an environment of different processes, priorities, and deadlines. In such situations, even the most passionate believers in the benefits of working together return to their separate corners and hope for a more enlightened future. How can DITA help overcome these challenges so that these groups can realize the benefits of working together? This session presents common documentation/training problem scenarios and demonstrates how incorporating a DITA approach can resolve those issues and help companies realize the promise of both cost and quality improvements.

Bio: Dawn Stevens is a Senior Consultant at Comtech Services. She worked at Comtech Services for 10 years before leaving to work for Boeing. After 10 years of experience at Boeing, she has recently returned to Comtech to continue her consulting role here. Dawn works with clients to help them improve their publication processes through process maturity studies, user studies, information architecture, minimalism and topic oriented writing using XML and DITA.
