What happens when a team of five information specialists supporting 100 engineering authors, who write content in Microsoft Word for a worldwide audience of 3500 service technicians in a regulated industry, try to implement DITA?  As any service person understands – you adapt – and use templates!

Varian Service is using bookmap and topic templates to solve many unique issues. Our authors are used to Word templates, so it makes sense to mimic that for simplicity in training and transition. Templates provide a built-in structure and allow customization of the user experience.

Join Catherine and Rich from Varian Medical Systems, the world leader in radiation oncology treatments and software, for this Stilo DITA Knowledge Series webinar as they expose their experiences with templates in DITA. Rich’s team is in the process of transitioning from an unstructured Word authoring environment to DITA. While he and his team have not fully implemented DITA, Rich is ready to share his experiences as the struggle continues!
