Choosing a Framework for Structured Authoring: Docbook or DITA?
The Society for Technical Communication (STC), Atlanta, Georgia chapter hosts Tony DaSilva as he discusses what user assistance teams are asking when moving from style-based authoring to structure-based authoring: What will constitute the core XML structure? As an alternative to several high cost options with lengthy implementations, there are two existing architectures that provide an end-to-end approach for creating user assistance content that can be reused and delivered in a variety of formats. Docbook and DITA are two OASIS standards for structured authoring. This presentation will help you make an informed decision on choosing between Docbook and DITA as a framework for developing structured content.

Networking at 6:30, Tips and Tricks at 6:45, program at 7.

Note: This meeting is being held at Mirant Corporation, 1155 Perimeter Center West, Atlanta, Georgia 30338, across the street from the Sandy Springs Marta station. (map). Light snacks are provided.
