Codex 3.1 DITA editor for engineers now available

VICTORIA, Canada — September 25, 2014 — Codex Systems today announced the release of Codex® 3.1, the latest update of their “DITA editor for engineers”, featuring support for bookmaps and several other enhancements. Codex enables engineers and technical writers to seamlessly collaborate on product documentation by providing a fast and easy way for engineers to create and edit DITA topics and maps.

“There used to be a barrier between our engineers and our technical writer, partly because they used incompatible documentation tools,” said Brent McDonald, Software Development Manager at Alpha Technologies Ltd. “Now they all work together in DITA. Our technical writer uses Adobe Framemaker, and our engineers use Codex. And everyone ‘co-owns’ the documentation.” This has made Alpha Technologies dramatically better able to keep their vast library of product manuals up-to-date and accurate.

Codex fully supports DITA 1.2 topics (topic, concept, task, reference, glossary, composite), maps, and bookmaps, and is currently available for Windows systems with a Mac version coming soon. Codex also includes the integrated MathFlow Style and Structure equation editors by Design Science (licensed separately). Single user licenses of Codex are priced at $299 U.S.
