“PRACTICAL DITA” PUBLISHED

Easy-to-read guide offers technical writers an introduction to DITA, an XML-based architecture for technical information

(South Plainfield, NJ - March 12, 2009) – The Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA), an increasingly popular XML architecture for authoring, producing, and delivering technical information, has been made easier to understand in a new book by Julio Vazquez. Mr. Vazquez, who was a member of IBM’s corporate team that defined DITA and wrote the first article about the topic in April, 2002, penned this introduction to writing with DITA to provide the technical communication community with a much needed “Beginner’s guide.”

The book, entitled “Practical DITA,” provides strategies for success when writing with DITA by describing the planning and task decomposition processes needed for clarity in DITA topics.

Julio Vazquez is currently employed by SDI Global Solutions in Durham, NC as an information architect and he has been a noted presenter at the STC-Carolina, DITA East and TechComm conferences. He is known in the technical communications community as a staunch DITA advocate and he regularly provides educational seminars on the topic.

The DITA Tools Product Development Team Lead at IBM, Mike Iantosca, praised Mr. Vazquez on the publication of his first book and noted, “You actually made the practical use of DITA understandable in a brief and succinct package!” Joe Clements, President of SDI Global Solutions, extended his congratulations to Mr. Vazquez. “We are thrilled to have Julio on our team,” Clements said. “It’s because of experts like him that we can provide our clients with technical communications solutions catered to their unique needs.”
