Advancing the automation of content conversion to DITA and other XML formats
Stilo International (LSE:STL) announces the release of version 3 of Migrate, its world leading cloud XML content conversion service.
Available immediately, Migrate v3 introduces a number of enhancements designed to make it easier to use by documentation team members, and to further improve the quality of DITA generated from FrameMaker, Word, RoboHelp, InDesign and DocBook source formats.
Migrate has been used to convert over 400,000 pages of content to DITA, including projects ranging in size from a single document, through to complete technical libraries. Customers including IBM, TIBCO Software, Cisco Systems, Varian Medical Systems, Micron Technology and many others, have been able to reduce the time and costs involved in content migration projects, with users remaining in complete control of the conversion process.
Migrate v3 new features include
Enhanced conversion Rules Editor
- The ability to add your own comments to your rules.
- More easily find where your rules have applied to your content.
- Table properties are fully revealed and ready to be leveraged by your mapping rules.
- Provides better insight into your source documents, and how your current rule set applies to them.
- New features which make it quicker and easier to understand your rule set and collaborate with team members.
- Simplified access to content-specific properties such as FrameMaker markers.
- Ability to parse textual content, break it apart and create fine inline markup such as menu cascades and syntax diagrams.
- The “contains element” test simplifies the handling of nested constructs, for example extracting a note that was placed in a table just for display purposes. This often means that just one rule is required where previously two rules were needed.
- A case statement has been added which allows rules to be consolidated, making it easier to manage your rule set.
- A for-each construct has been added to support the application of multiple annotations to a single piece of content, for example, adding an annotation for every associated index marker.
- Numerical comparisons are now possible in tests.
- Support for conref and conkeyref.
- Improved support for map and bookmap metadata.
- Ability to created nested maps.
- Support for related links and relationship tables.
- Multiple documents can now be processed concurrently on a single Migrate portal.
- Availability of an improved set of user documentation, accessible from within Migrate.

About Migrate
Converting content in the cloud
Migrate is a cloud service that enables subject matter experts to automate the conversion of their content to DITA and custom XML. It provides greater control over conversion quality, immediate turnaround times and operates on a low-cost, pay-as-you-use basis. Supported input formats include XML/SGML/HTML, FrameMaker, Word, InDesign, RoboHelp and DocBook.
Migrate places subject matter experts in complete control of the conversion process. Documentation teams can operate at their own pace, work collaboratively, fix problems themselves, and avoid the churn and delays otherwise involved when liaising with outside vendors. Migrate is available 24/7 on a pay-as-you-use basis.
For conversion projects of all sizes
Migrate can be used to convert a single document, with Stilo operating the service, or by global documentation teams that need to convert thousands of pages of legacy content, on-demand, according to their own project deadlines.
