Migrate v2.1 offers users greater control, flexibility and output accuracy
16 September 2010, Swindon, United Kingdom – Stilo International is poised to deliver significant enhancements to Migrate, its on-demand XML content conversion service, available via the Internet. Scheduled for general release in November 2010, Migrate v2.1 will deliver greater control over the conversion process, more powerful content processing and a new rules editing capability that will enable users to gain exceptional accuracy from an automated solution, even when converting highly complex documents.
Stilo’s Migrate service enables users to upload content in a variety of source formats, such as FrameMaker, Word, InDesign and Quark, and convert rich content into any target XML schema or DTD in a matter of minutes. The solution can be used online or deployed on site to give organizations a quick and effective way to convert content, on demand, into formats such as DITA, DocBook and EPUB.
Les Burnham, CEO of Stilo International, says: “When organizations convert content into a different format, they often have to spend a significant amount of time manually editing and cleaning up documents after the conversion process. Migrate v2.1 achieves a level of accuracy and speed that is unprecedented from an automated solution. It therefore accelerates project times and minimizes manual post-processing tasks and associated costs.”
Migrate v2.1 incorporates several new features, all of which contribute to improved conversion accuracy.
These enhancements include:
- A new Rules Editor graphical user interface that makes it possible for users to interact with the system according to individual levels of technical expertise
- The ability to customize the conversion process and set rules to ‘’teach’’ Migrate how to handle idiosyncrasies within individual documents or groups of documents
- Greater control over the treatment of styles, such as bold and italics, textual patterns, font properties, paragraphs, lists and even lists within lists
- Powerful schema-driven processing, which ensures that the output matches the target schema more precisely and generates valid XML every time
A customized solution with pay-as-you-use pricing
For each new customer, Stilo tailors the Migrate conversion pipelines to handle specific groups of documents and precisely transform content to the target XML. With the new Migrate v2.1 pipeline architecture, these pipelines can be customized extensively and customer-specific rules can be applied rapidly to styles, fonts and other formatting attributes. Using the Rules Editor, customers are able to directly fine tune Migrate to produce high-quality output in accordance with their custom schema, as well as other XML industry standards.
Following an initial set-up fee, organizations simply pay for the service on a pay-as-you-use basis. This avoids the need for any significant upfront investment and enables customers to more effectively budget and spread the cost of content conversion.
Burnham says: “With its flexible pay-as-you-use pricing and low set-up costs, Migrate is much more cost effective than other approaches to content conversion, such as using offshore agencies. It also dramatically speeds up the content conversion process, generates improved content quality and accelerates the return on investment for multi-channel publishing projects.
