Second Life hosts regular DITA chat meetings.

How to become a Second Life user

If you do not have a Second Life account yet, go to www.secondlife.com. The base membership is free. Expect to spend one to two hours on installation, setting up your Avatar and running through the tutorials. Then you will be transported to the Mainland, and you can start to explore.

Step-by-step:

  1. Download software at: http://secondlife.com/community/downloads.php.
  2. Create a new accout at http://www.secondlife.com/ : follow the "Join Now" button.
  3. After your account has been activated, start the Secondlife program you just have installed.
  4. You will appear at the Orientation Island, which is a tutorial world. Run through the four tutorials, learning the basic functinalities and tools. Just follow the instructions appearing on your screen.
  5. After you have successfully finished the four tutorials you can teleport to the mainland. Open the map, enter "Addicted to Reality" into the searchbar, click search, enter the Location 13, 27,24 and teleport to the DITA building, or send an IM to avatar, Seico Flanaganor, or just explore this new world.
