DitaShare by Content Technologies GmbH is a DITA-based Single-Source CMS solution on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 that offers collaborative Single-Sourcing and re-use of DITA topics and DITA maps, as well as publishing of conditional variants. DitaShare includes an integrated version of Altova Authentic 2008, a free web-based XML content editor, allowing authors and editors to work productively from any location using only MS Internet Explorer. Optional web-based editors include JustSystems XMAX, Xopus, and DITA Storm. DitaShare supports any stand-alone text editor in upload and download mode. Dedicated, standalone, XML editors, including MS Word 2007, Adobe FrameMaker 8 and JustSystems XMetaL, can be integrated seamlessly with DitaShare
DITA topic files are managed in SharePoint lists, while DITA metadata are transparently synchronized into SharePoint CMS metadata (promote/demote). DITA maps are handled and managed like DITA topics. Maps can be edited interactively, using the integrated web-based XML-editor with an included, specialized map stylesheet. Additionally, maps can be viewed as virtual folders and outlines.
The standard output engine is DITA OpenToolkit 1.4, which is integrated into the DitaShare solution. DitaShare allows for integration of additional, optional publishing engines, like Adobe FrameMaker, leaving hardly any desired output format out. Each of the standard and optional publishing engines can be equipped with standard stylesheets as well as custom stylesheets, which the user chooses from and configures at the time of publishing the DITA map. Further, DitaShare allows for inclusion of ditaval files for publishing conditional publication variants, as well as pre-set print configuration options.
DitaShare supports DITA 1.1 and DITA Open Toolkit 1.4. DITA specializations are fully supported by customization.
