We are now beginning work on version 1.5 of the toolkit, and expect to release version 1.5 with support for DITA 1.2 (with several milestone builds leading up to final release). The timing of this release is heavily dependent on the progress of the OASIS DITA 1.2 Specification. See [[Plans for DITA-OT 1.5]] for more information.

Plans for future versions of the DITA Open Toolkit

Plans for future versions of the DITA Open Toolkit

The latest version of the DITA-OT 1.4.2.1, which was released May 6, 2008.

The project is currently shifting towards a more agile process, with several development iterations that will accumulate new items until we have enough for a release.

We are now beginning work on version 1.5 of the toolkit, and expect to release version 1.5 with support for DITA 1.2 (with several milestone builds leading up to final release). The timing of this release is heavily dependent on the progress of the OASIS DITA 1.2 Specification. See Plans for DITA-OT 1.5 for more information.

Work is being done on the PDF2 plug-in.  See Plans for the DITA Open Toolkit PDF2 Plug-in for more information.

New items for consideration should be submitted to the project page at SourceForge. Any open item on the SourceForge bug tracker, patch tracker, or feature tracker is a candidate for a future release.

As development begins on any significant item, a design document should be created here for tracking and discussion. Design documents should use the DITA Open Toolkit Design Document Template.
