Inmedius® Introduces DITA Storm™ Desktop

Standalone, DITA Editor with Single Source Publishing

Pittsburgh, PA – May 6, 2008  Inmedius, Inc. is pleased to announce DITA StormDesktop, the complete standalone XML editing solution to easily create and publish DITA (Darwin Information Typing Architecture) documents in a self-contained environment on a single workstation.  Installed locally on the end user’s computer, files are accessed, edited, saved and published from local or network drives, regardless of Internet connectivity.  With WYSIWYG editing capabilities, authors with little or no DITA or XML knowledge can create valid, structured content in Desktop’s intuitive authoring environment.

“Desktop fills a major void in the current market by providing an affordable, standalone XML editor with out-of-the-box DITA functionality,” stated Alex Karezin, Senior Product Architect, Inmedius, Inc.  “Additionally, this is the first multi-platform DITA editor that runs on Mac OS™, Windows Vista, Windows® and Linux® operating systems.”

All from the convenience of the user’s desktop and in one simple solution, quickly and easily create and publish DITA-compliant documentation from a single source to multiple popular output formats, including; Adobe® Acrobat® PDF, Microsoft® Office Word, XHTML, HTML Help, JavaHelpand Eclipse Help.

Desktop is the second software application released in the Inmedius DITA Storm Suite. The Suite provides four distinct solutions to create, manage and publish DITA documentation from an intuitive, embeddable component to an editor within a full-featured management tool.  DITA Storm Developer, a Web-based, embeddable DITA editor was released in March and is available for immediate delivery via the Inmedius Online Store at store.inmedius.com.  DITA Storm Professional and DITA Storm Enterprise will be released over the next several months.

A single-user license of Desktop is $395 (US Dollars).  To learn more about Desktop and the entire DITA Storm Suite, visit www.inmediusDITA.com, where you can access product resources; including, the interactive DITA Storm Online XML Editor, detailed literature and software demonstrations.

See the DITA Storm Suite at DocTrain West in Vancouver, BC on May 6 – 9, 2008.  Inmedius is a proud sponsor of the event, which gives technical communication professionals an opportunity to learn valuable new skills, understand important emerging technologies and improve the usefulness of the information products they create.  Attendees visiting the Inmedius booth will receive a free Inmedius Guide to DITA Topic Types Mouse Pad and DITA Storm Suite Brochure.
