will support Elekta’s global information management strategy

Elekta develops sophisticated, state of the art radiotherapy medical systems andtreatment planning systems for radiation therapy and radiosurgery, as well as workflow enhancing software across a spectrum of cancer care. Due to theirextensive product lines, growth and acquisitions, changing regulatory landscapeand global presence, Elekta’s information and localization management wasbecoming increasingly important and yet presented some serious challenges.
These challenges included information which was difficult to maintain, reuse, anddeliver, difficulties in sharing information across regional geographies,information inconsistencies and high localization costs. As such, they decidedto review and modernize their entire documentation processes which resulted inthe implementation of a globalinformation management strategy (GIM) across all its R&D and productsupply centers. As part of the GIM strategy, Elekta needed to:
- modularize content writing using the standardized DITA approach to increase content reuse and,
- centralize and single source content into a single content management system to facilitate sharing and maximise content reuse
With this strategy in place, Elekta extensively researched and evaluated severalcomponent content management solutions capable of rigorously supporting theirrequirements. They were quickly impressed with IXIASOFT’s DITA CMS solutionmainly for its:
