DS SolidWorks Corp. deploys IXIASOFT’s DITA CMS solution to support its global documentation strategy

The DITA CMS was selected to improve technical communications processesfor SolidWorks

Montreal, Canada – June 20th 2011 – IXIASOFT, the XML content management market leader, is pleased to announce that Dassault Systèmes (DS) SolidWorks Corp., a world leader in 3D products and software solutions, has selected and deployed its DITA CMS solution to automate and improve the organization’s DITA-based documentation and localization processes.
As part of a global information management strategy, Dassault Systèmes, owner of the SolidWorks subsidiary, decided to modernize and normalize their technical documentation content across all groups.  More specifically, DS SolidWorks decided to move to DITA as their selected information architecture. Very quickly, it became clear to the DS SolidWorks team, that a Component Content Management System (CCMS) would be required to efficiently manage this modular type of architecture and optimize their overall processes. In fact, with no CCMS in place, DS SolidWorks would be facing serious challenges such as missing out on reuse opportunities, various error-prone manual processes, no version control, and no link and reference checking.
After an extensive research for the best CCMS solutions available, that would fit with their specific requirements, DS SolidWorks picked the DITA CMS solution from IXIASOFT. “We truly found a partner in IXIASOFT: not only is their solution technically solid and scalable, we also felt that their team has truly developed a DITA expertise on which we can count on for the long term. This was a key decisive factor for us.” said Joe Campo, Manager of Technical Documentation at DS SolidWorks. “With the IXIASOFT DITA CMS in place, we expect to improve the quality and consistency of our documentation. We also look forward to significant enhancements in our localization processes, enabling us to meet rigorous time-to-market objectives and important cost savings. Last but not least, we are very excited about the possibilities to produce metrics with the solution’s distinctive reporting engine - enabling us to track our processes and better predict workloads.”
“SolidWorks had a complex set of requirements which requested a flexible CCMS capable of handling these in a transparent manner. They are also a growing company with an increasing amount of work. Therefore, they need a CCMS capable of making technical communicators more efficient in their day-to-day work AND a scalable CCMS that will handle their longer term needs” said Eric Bergeron, President of IXIASOFT. “We are proud to be working with SolidWorks and look forward to a long partnership with them. We are confident that our DITA CMS will help them meet their strategic documentation goals.”
The IXIASOFT DITA CMS is currently fully in production at DS SolidWorks.
