The DITA CMS offers new features for enhanced productivity and to support industry specific regulations
Montreal, Canada – February 1st 2012 – IXIASOFT, the XML component content management market leader, announced today the availability of the IXIASOFT DITA CMS v3.4. With full support of DITA 1.2 features, the DITA CMS continues to offer organizations a leading edge CCMS enabling them to fully benefit from the DITA standard and continue to improve their content reuse strategy.“Our customers are very involved in the DITA CMS development process as features are built into the product based on customer feedback. This release provides them with features that will further improve their productivity and make their workday more efficient.” said Eric Bergeron, President of IXIASOFT. “We are also very excited to offer our customers and prospects an integration with the Quark XML Author tool which will allow organizations to include non-DITA experts in the documentation process”.
“Today, the speed at which accurate and relevant product information is delivered to consumers is crucial,” said Dave White, Vice President of Alliances and Emerging Technology for Quark. “Quark and IXIASOFT are working together to help all content creators – even the non-technical – create and manage structured content that can be accessed for easy reuse and published to print and digital media.”
Highlights of the DITA CMS v3.4 include:
Integration with Quark® XML Author for Microsoft Word: Quark XML Author is an XML authoring and editing add-in to Microsoft Word that allows anyone using Microsoft Word to create or edit XML content. The combined solution improves cross-departmental collaboration on the production of technical documentation by making it possible for non-technical subject matter experts to create structured content without using complicated DITA or XML editors.
Taxonomy editor: the Taxonomy view allows users to easily manage taxonomies and the documents that contain their terms. The view also lets users insert/remove these terms from many documents at the same time and see the documents which contain specific terms.
Redline DITA Map compare tool this new procedure allows users to compare two maps by obtaining a PDF or HTML rendering of the compared content. This function is similar to many word processors' compare function: additions and deletions in the map's text are highlighted in different colors.
Electronic signature: the Collaborative Reviewer now includes an electronic signature functionality which allows users to affix an electronic signature to a completed document. This feature will be useful specifically in regulated environments – such a medical device manufacturing – as e-signatures are sometimes required in order for a document to complete an approval cycle.
Full DITA 1.2 support: this new release of the DITA CMS fully supports the DITA 1.2 standard including keyref features (@keys attribute) which allow users to potentially expand their content reuse strategy
