The JoAnn Hackos Workshop Series announces the Structured Writing for Single Sourcing workshop in Germantown, MD, December 12-13, 2006, taught by JoAnn Hackos.

To implement a single-sourcing strategy for information development and publishing, we strongly recommend that you structure the content you produce. Well-structured content leads to more opportunities for reuse across products, user communities, delivery media, and other dimensions. Reuse leads to increased operational efficiencies and higher productivity.

If you are planning to move to an XML authoring environment, well-structured content is a necessity. An XML Document Type Definition (DTD) is derived from the structures you develop for your content. Use this opportunity to define information types (concepts, procedures, processes, and background information) and design the content units that make up your information types.
