Syncro Soft: oXygen XML editor

oXygen XML Editor combines an easy to use visual editor with a powerful code based editor thus covering the needs of both authors that do not want to see the tags and XML gurus that want to have full control over their markup.

DITA support comes built in consisting of

  • automatic recognition of DITA documents and DITA specializations
  • creating new documents from templates
  • CSS stylesheets already configured for visual WYSIWYG-like editing
  • specific DITA actions for
    • table management (inserting tables, lines, columns, cells, deleting lines, columns, split and join)
    • list management (inserting ordered and definition lists and list items)
    • inserting images
    • inserting different styles, links, paragraphs, steps, concepts, tasks, topic and references.
  • XML Catalog
  • default transformation scenarios to convert to PDF and HTML.

The built in DITA support can be further extended to cover specific needs. This can be mainly performed through a GUI inside oXygen options but there is available also a public API for more advanced tasks.

More, oXygen contains also full XML development support covering all schema languages including DTDs, XSLT and XQuery, Web Services and both relational and XML databases. Though its support for WebDAV, FTP and the possibility to edit directly in a database oXygen can be used to edit documents exactly in their location. It includes also a SVN client and diff and merge capabilities to allow collaborative work.

oXygen is available on Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, Solaris, etc. both as a standalone application and as a plugin for Eclipse. The same license covers the usage on any of these operating system and both the standalone and the Eclipse plugin distributions.
