<b>Job Title: CMS and Data Model Programmer/Analyst #60667

Location: San Rafael, CA </b>

 

<b>ROLE/PURPOSE</b>

Support users, develop tools, and enhance data model for a large-scale (400-500 user), business-critical, client-server, authoring and globalization content management system (Idiom WorldServer). This system is used by technical writers throughout Autodesk who create technical product documentation and by localization and translation teams who translate the documentation into up to 18 languages.

<b>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</b>

<li>Provide support to users by troubleshooting problems during the authoring process as well as output problems.

<li>Enhance and support Autodesk’s XML data model and FrameMaker structured application.

<li>Develop tools to automate and manage the conversion of content from unstructured formats to an XML-based data model, and between variants of structured data models.

<li>Document authoring and publishing processes.

<li>Prepare and hold training sessions for internal audiences.

<li>Assist in researching, specifying, and in some cases, developing enhancements to existing authoring and publishing systems and processes.

<li>Maintain XSL code used to generate output; possibly take on development of XSL code. 

 

<b>REQUIREMENTS</b>

<li>Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or a related field.

<li>5 years’ experience in the software industry, with at least 2 years' technical writing experience.

<li>Advanced knowledge of help system technology (CHM and Flash).

<li>Advanced knowledge of HTML technology (HTML, CSS, JS).

<li>Advanced knowledge of XML-based publishing technology (DTD, XSL, XSL-FO).

<li>Knowledge of graphic formats and tools a plus.

<li>Expertise with Structured FrameMaker. FDK programming experience a plus.

<li>Good knowledge of PDF and print technology a plus.

<li>Prior Content Management System experience a plus.

<li>Experience with information architecture and experience modeling information types with XML via DTD and/or Schema a big plus.

<li>Knowledge of, and especially experience with, DITA a big plus.

<li>Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Ability to develop and maintain close communication in a globally dispersed organization.

<li>Proven ability to articulate ideas and process improvements to convey business value.

<li>Strong multitasking capabilities.

<li>Internationalization experience a plus.

<li>Proven self-starter who is effective in a team environment.
