Comtech Services, Inc.

As you should expect, Comtech Services has used DITA to create the Introduction to DITA: A Basic User Guide as a print publication. Each lesson in the tutorial begins with a concept topic. The tutorial lesson itself is a task topic, and the list of elements used in the lesson is a reference topic. Topics are referenced in section-level maps, which in turn are organized in a book-level map.

The book is output using Mekon's DITA to FrameMaker transformation, allowing us to format the Guide for print publication. The transformation, which is available in open source, generalizes the DITA core information types (concept, task, and reference) to the base topic before associating the elements with a FrameMaker EDD and template. The core information type specializations are preserved in the transformation. Index tags are added in DITA and output through FrameMaker as well.

The book is available at http://www.comtech-serv.com/dita.shtml
