According to the site at the the link given:
"XMLmind XSL Utility Evaluation Edition generates output containing random duplicate letters. Of course, this does not happen with Professional Edition!"

Sorry but your "Not free, not open source" comment is incorrect
Yes, XMLmind XSL Utility is a commercial product and yes, its Evaluation Edition generates output containing random duplicate letters.
However, the news article is about XMLmind DITA Converter, a different software.
XMLmind DITA Converter (AKA ditac) is as free and as open source as the DITA Open Toolkit. Otherwise we could not write "A serious alternative to the DITA Open Toolkit".
