According to the site at the the link given:

"XMLmind XSL Utility Evaluation Edition generates output containing random duplicate letters. Of course, this does not happen with Professional Edition!"

26 January 2016: Please see the comment below. I was in error when I made the above post. Mea culpa.

Yes, XMLmind XSL Utility is a commercial product and yes, its Evaluation Edition generates output containing random duplicate letters.

However, the news article is about  XMLmind DITA Converter, a different software.

XMLmind DITA Converter (AKA ditac) is as free and as open source as the DITA Open Toolkit. Otherwise we could not write "A serious alternative to the DITA Open Toolkit".

Open Source license:

You may prefer to use the  DITA Open Toolkit, something we understand very well (see the "Some good reasons to keep using the DITA Open Toolkit" section in this page http://www.xmlmind.com/ditac/why_choose_ditac.html), but please do not write erroneous statements about our products.

We are indeed a small company, but also a honest one. We don't lie to our users and to our customers.
