The following FAQ has been used as a handout at recent conferences.
DITA Fact Sheet
What is DITA?
The Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) is an XML-based, end-to-end architecture for authoring, producing, and delivering readable information as discrete, typed topics. What is DITA good for?
- Managing readable information
- Reusing information in many different combinations and deliverables
- Creating online information systems such as User Assistance (help) or web resource
- Creating minimalist books for easier authoring and use
These terms keep coming up in DITA conversations; what do they mean?

Looking at the future, focused on the present

This morning we discussed DITA feature design for DITA 1.1, and this afternoon I spent brushing up on my DITA authoring workshop, which I'm delivering tomorrow. It's a bit of a weird feeling: one eye on the future, as the Technical Committee expands DITA's capabilities for book publishing and conditional processing; and one eye on the present, making sure that DITA still fits into best practices and processes that can deliver improved quality, not just reduced cost. DITA is good technology, but all it can do is reduce the pain of doing the right thing: it can't do the right thing for you.
Great start :)

Nice effort guys. Great to see another Drupal site.
As a long time DITA lurker (but not quite user yet) and Drupal user, I've been entertaining occassional thoughts about possible ways of integrating the two for a while now. It's been a fairly low priority so far, but maybe with some other interested parties, I might be prodded into actual action ;)
Anyway, best of luck with the site and I hope the community really takes off from here.
