Frequently Asked Questions
New User
Hello, I am new to DITA, well I have worked as a technical writer and is equally passionate to continue; I would like to know how to use DITA; as I have been using WORD to prepare SDLC documents, so to enhance myself more in this profession I am eager to learn how to implement DITA or if I simply say that I want to make a vision document than how DITA will be used. Warm Regards, Omer
publishing javahelp output
I am trying to process javahelp output and was wondering if anyone had suggestions for good tutorials or general advice. I am using Arbortext Editor and Arbortext Publishing Engine to create the DITA bookmaps and create pdf and webhelp output. Unfortunately, Arbortext doesn't support javahelp builds, so I have downloaded the open toolkit and did the practice javahelp build. Any suggestions for hooking up Arbortext stylesheets and dtd files with the open toolkit would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Glossary in DITA
Hello All,
When I add the glossary and generate a PDF of the BookMap, the glossary term and definition does not appear distinctly. They appear similar to the rest of the content in the document.
Further, if a glossary term has more than one definition, how can we add this to the glossary topic? Should we create separate glossary topics for each such definition?
Can anyone suggest a different way of adding glossary to the BookMap or advise what I could do to rectify this issue?
RegardsIs it posible to include variable-dynamic data?
I'm thinking to use DITA to generate technical (and safety) data sheet's for chemicals products. This documents are not too much big but there are about 30.000 products and 20 different languages.
Is it possible to include concepts that will be updated on the building process (e.g. color = red, list of ingredients, .... ).
Thanks in advance
DITA Translation Files
I recently submitted a document for language translations. It is composed of 28 DITA files, (references, tasks, etc.). The LSP commented that it was costly to run 28 individual files agains the translation memory and the expense would be less if a single file were given to them for their process.
Is there a better way to do this?
