The X-Pubs 2008 conference to be held in London on June 22-24 will focus on how Web 2.0, DITA, CMS and S1000D can re-invent your customer's content experience. "If you are going to invest in XML-related technologies such as DITA, Component Content Management (CCMS), S1000D, the customer experience should be high on the initiatives priority list." said Noz Urbina, XML Content Management Consultant and member of the topic-review board for X-Pubs.

We coordinated and recorded a remote presentation by Nenad Furtula and Jim Tivy of Bluestream speaking to the Silicon Valley Digital Interest Group on February 13.
From their Bluestream offices in Vancouver they described working with DITA and their XDocs CMS.
We recorded their demonstration in Cambridge, MA using Elluminate.

Eliot Kimber presented his Specialization in Real Time Tutorial at our Boston DITA Users Group
He created a topic specialization for a valentine!
Eliot has given his real-time specialization tutorial to DITA user groups in Austin, TX and Boulder, CO, and now Boston.
We videotaped Eliot. You can see the video at media.skybuilders.com/DITA/KimberSpecialization/. Unfortunately our camcorder had a lot of problems with the color.
DITA Evolution and the Effect on Content Management Systems

As the Darwin Information Typing Architecutre (DITA) gains wider acceptance as an XML standard for technical documentation, there has been increased activity towards interoperability with other standards, such as S1000D and SCORM, specialization for uses in specific industries, and adaptation for different use cases. Noteworthy is the current effort to adapt DITA for monolithic business documents other than technical documents. This adaptation opens the possibility for techdoc groups to implement DITA without requiring the paradigm shift to topic-based authoring.
